Micah 6:11-13 - What God blesses

Scripture:

Micah 6:11-13
11 "Can I justify wicked scales
And a bag of deceptive weights?
12 "For the rich men of the city are full of violence,
Her residents speak lies,
And their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
13 "So also I will make you sick, striking you down,
Desolating you because of your sins.
NASU

Thoughts:

God asks a simple, yet probing question in verse 11.  Can He justify sin?  If there is any doubt of the answer, we need only look to verse 13, He cannot, and in fact judged these people.  There is a simple reason why He cannot justify sin, He is holy:

1 John 1:5
5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
NASU

The items in these verses are obviously sinful and would not be supported by God, but any disobedience is just as ugly to Him.

How often do we ask the Lord to justify our disobedience?  Involving ourselves in something outside of His will for us, and then asking Him in prayer to bless it.  How much better to seek His will for our lives, submitting to His leadership, and experience true blessing, rather than seeking a blessing for our own selfish will.

Prayer:

Lord, reveal any areas of disobedience in my life right now.  Grant me the humility and wisdom to seek Your will in every part of my life.  I want to honor and follow You in all I do.

Amen
