1 Kings 5:5 - Following through on God's will

Scripture:

1 Kings 5:5
5 "Behold, I intend to build a house for the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spoke to David my father, saying, 'Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, he will build the house for My name.'
NASU

Thoughts:

Solomon is now prepared to launch into the massive project of building the temple of God, a project that will take 7 years to complete.  This was the desire of his father David, but he was given the privilege of seeing it through.  In the process, Solomon overcomes a hurdle that stumbles many, he actually does what he knows God wants him to do!

Although it can be difficult to discern what the Lord's will is for us, it can also be equally hard to then respond in obedience.  Solomon was fortunate in that the task was clearly laid out before him, but I find that the Lord is still capable of making His will clear to us, today.  When He does, we must in His strength overcome any fears that would hold us back, and step forward.  On the other side of fear is faith and victory.

Prayer:

Lord, give me confidence and clarity concerning Your leading in my life.  Then, give me the faith to take action as You guide me!

Amen
